Day 1 of the National Championships took place at Holyrood Sports Centre, Glasgow.

Ladies Band 1

Congratulations to Maureen Moran on winning the ladies band 1 title for the very first time.

Ladies Doubles

Congratulations to Corinna Whitaker and Natasha Milliken on winning the ladies doubles title for the very first time, the girls came back from 0-3 down to secure the title against Gillian Edwards and Elaine Forbes.

Men's Singles

Good results were achieved in the mens singles event. Craig Hardie survived a challenge from the ever improving Christopher Wheeler, from this craig went on to reach the quarter finals losing out to Stewart Crawford. Terry McLernon won group 10 with a good win against Stewart Armitage, in the 1st round he had a very hard fought victory over the returning David Low, winning 13-11 in the fifth set. Terry lost out to Gavin Rumgay at the quarter finals stage.

Scott Barton put up a good fight against the veteran Gerry Campbell and had his chances,  but Gerry used all his experience to score a good win over the youngster. Calum Main was in good form to beat Gerry in the next round, but lost out to Craig Howieson in the quarter finals.

Ladies Singles

Natasha Milliken won group 4 with victories over Linda Powell and a hard fought win over Stephanie McCallum. Corinna Whitaker beat Lisa Noterangelo, but lost out to Elaine Forbes. Natasha then went on to face Rebecca Russell in the semi finals, Rebecca got her revenge after her loss to Natasha at the senior assessment winning the Match 3-1. Rebecca then went on to beat Gillian Edwards 4-1 to win the national title for the 3rd time - well done Rebecca.

Men;s Band 1

Nathan Courtney reached the semi finals of the band 1 competition losing out to Willie Mabon 14-12 in the fifth set.
